He seems like a bright fellow with good approaches to diving. Have yet to have the pleasure of meeting him in person. As far as sales pitches go, I don't teach trimix, I don't teach HOTx, no financial gain in it for me one way or the other. I simply provided links to sites I hoped might contain the information you were looking for. Concerning NAUI's "Extended Range" course, it is virtually impossible to get them to issue a card for that program. I had a discussion with NAUI Tech's leader on this issue sometime back. Like you, I do not support the concept of deep diving on air. To paraphrase Tim O'Leary, head of NAUI's Technical Division, "we had to put that language about availability in there to appease the forces that be. As long as I'm the director there will be no location in the world recognized as not having helium available." It requires specific approval to run that course and such approval is not forthcoming from HQ. As far as the text on my website about HOTx, it explains what it is. It details its uses. It even mentions that it has potential for use as a no-stop diving gas. Obviously, for reasons concerning potential liability exposure, it suggests seeking training. Unfortunately, no agency has yet "stepped up to pet the pony" in regards to offering training in no-stop HOTx diving outside of the technical training arena. I suspect that has as much to do with liability insurance coverage for such a course as anything. Personally, I'd love to see a recreational no-stop HOTx course offered by one of the agnecies. I would think that if anyone were going to break into that area it would be GUE. Finally, as far as my getting pissed over stuff put up on these lists, simply ain't gonna happen. I take all that with a grain or salt. BD -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'. Send subscribe/unsubscribe requests to `techdiver-request@aquanaut.com'.
