The 20 is the 50 ( or 100 ) minus the adjustment, and is fine so long as the intermediate pressure is turned down - it still has a balance chamber, although with Apeks regs there is a guard over the diaphragm which reduces the easy freeflows, you can adjust the pressure anywhere you want it, the seat is far tougher than anyone else's so you can keep it tight, the orifice and orifice o ring are far superior and will not hiss like the others, there is a collar around the ears on the lever so you can add spring tension without popping it out, there is a baffle in the right place, the mushroom is far superior and will not drown you like the others in odd positions, the discharge is correct and not made to pretend some high flow bullshit , so does not allow water back in, the fittings are all first class high quality stuff, not the dogshit in the other regs, and the materials are all first class, unlike the other regs which are cheap ass pieces of crap with ridiculous price tags. You can not beat an Apeks reg with anything on this planet. The first stages are far superior to anything out there, and you can remove the huge, piston like rubber seat and smooth it for use over and over an over again. I own one set of Apeks spare parts and 15 Apeks regs. If I ever get to use the spare parts, I'll put it on this list. I have some Apeks regs that are 8 years old without service. By way of comparison, I have a 400 dollar repair bill so far this year on second stages alone of another make. What does that tell you? -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Swann <swanncruz@oc*.ne*.au*> To: techdiver@aquanaut.com <techdiver@aquanaut.com> Cc: Trey <trey@ne*.co*>; bear . <claire@di*.co*> Date: Sunday, September 24, 2000 7:33 AM Subject: Regs >Dear list, >I am using Poseidon first stages, and apeks Tx 100 second stages. >I already had 4 poseidon first stages, hence I stuck with them. >Have my sets of twins set up DIR. >At this time I am using a Tx 100 as the primary, stage and backup reg. >Seems like I should have a non adjustable second stage as back up (Well I >know I should). >Also, extravagant to be running two Tx 100's, not that cost matters. >Question is I like Apeks, and what is better, TX 40 or T20? >As a back up reg? >Thanks in advance. >Jeff the Darwinian. > -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
