Dave,

There are a lot of satisfied Firestone tire owners and Corvair drivers too.
Anecdotes do not add up to quality. Setting the whole "buy a timer" issue
aside, if you ARE going to use an in-water dive computer, as a consumer, a
preponderance of customer complaints over several years is more compelling
to me than a few satisfied customers. There are always satisfied customers
no matter the product - Chernobyl was a success story for several years.

Although I am happy that you have had a positive experience, I don't wish
anyone a $1000 hit.
