I'm not sure where you dive, so I don't know the accepted practice there. I (and most people I know) use EAN32, 36, or even 50 for their travel gas, which necessitates deep stops on trimix except for trivial exposures. The tradeoff is decompression efficiency on deep stops (better to use air or weak EAN) versus deco efficiency on intermediate and shallow stops (better to use the richest mix possible).
