so it doesnt get hot in seattle? besides i walk on the deck barefoot all the time, even on the engine hatch cover. no problem and thats the bare metal, paint it a light color and you are totally fine. personally id guess its an economic thing. people buy whats cheap, and dont look at long term, and nobody sells stuff that lasts anymore, they make it chintzy and change the style every six months..
