Paul,

I don't currently use a weight belt with my harness so you can take the
following with as large a grain of salt as you like (though I do have over
ten years of diving with a more conventional setup (BC, weight belt, etc)
prior to changing over to a DIR harness and wings). Two things occur to me...

1) In OW training (that I'm exposed to) students are taught a drill for
removing or adjusting the "BC" strap. Part of this drill is to grip the
weight belt buckle in the left (I think) hand prior to locating and
releasing the buckle for the buoyancy compensator. You could employ a
similar drill.

2) The buckle for the harness should be close to the backplate on the
right hand side (to hold the canister light in place). I assume that the
weight belt buckle would be in the front (on top of the harness) so the two
should be well sepearated (I'd also be inclined to use a light colour
(yellow) for the belt and black for the harness to further distinguish
them?).

Just my thoughts (I'm just as keen to see answers from the list on this
one). Actually, I'd been wondering if any OW drills were published on the
web or elsewhere to refer to?

Cheers,
