Oh God!!! Not this again! For all the recent newcomers to the list, search the techdiver archives for "The Big Wreck", and "The Big Wrecked Wreck"! > The sea may have its own laws, but it has laws, and as a general rule, > if you would not do it on public lands, you shouldn't do it > on public bottomlands. "Public bottomlands"???? Please cite. Which government agency administers these "public bottomlands" (outside of 3 miles from shore)? This whole piece wreaks of naivety and socialism. Anyone who thinks that wrecks can be "preserved" in the most corrosive natural environment on earth needs to study physics and chemistry. David Finnern did an excellent job of examining the issues in his editorial in the March '95 issue of Underwater USA. For other good reading material on this subject, see Gary Gentile's latest book (the gold one), as well as his one on the USS Monitor. Christina
