Subject: my last post about 80/20 deco and financing.
Mr. Morin,
When you first posted several days ago I was going to answer your
questions upon my return. During my absence you have wasted a tremendous
amount of time ranting on your little diatribe, which honestly appears to
be a vehicle for your hatred of the WKPP. I am left wondering if you even
have an interest in finding answers, or were just looking to stir people up.
I can not speak for my teammates, but I can and do speak for myself
(why I am bothering with you I have not figured out just yet). To put it
bluntly I do not give a rats ass about the economics of what I do. I work
so I can play. I choose to play long distances away from the surface in
deep and dark caves, if I wish to play then yes there are cost that I must
pay. The expense of over 40 cylinders, dry suits, custom scooters,
multiple cannister lights, and boxes of regulators cannot be ignored;
however, your are beyond delusional if you think that I choose to
decompress on an optimal mix because it is easy to blend and cheaper. I
pay for all of the gas that I breath, my teammates pay for their own gas, I
have paid for every piece of gear that I own, NO ONE PAYS MY WAY inside the
WKPP. The team does not finance me or those that I dive with, therefore
the team does not incur any cost associated with individuals divers, so
your statement about the "organization" being concerned about costs in moot.
I choose to dive with the WKPP because collectively they are some of
the best cave divers in the world. I have been on the other side of cave
diving and have seen the bullshit instructors drinking beer and smoking
cigarettes while teaching class, I have seen instructors that leave their
students inside the cave and take the line out, I have seen students that
get task loaded while tying their shoes go from OW to full cave in one week
and not possess the ability to handle a reel, I have seen more convoluted
and dangerous gear configurations than I can remember, and I have run into
too many people like yourself, who for whatever reason have something
against the WKPP so you find someway to try and attack whatever facet of
the organization you feel you will be successful with.
It appears as if your 80/20 discussion was not going in the direction
you had intended so you changed horses in the middle of the stream only to
come out riding the economic one. Your argument is guilty of several
logical fallicies: non-sequitur, hypostatization, solipsistic, straw man,
hasty generalization, equivocation, sweeping generalization, faulty
analogy, and argumentum ad ignorantum (my favorite) , which makes pathetic
regardless of the view point taken.
Sincerely hoping you find a clue some day,
Scott Hunsucker
