There are advantages and disadvantes to the ring system. The
advantage is that it's easy to repace a glove with a wirst seal, it's
relatively easy to don and doff, and there are other advantages to
having a "modular" system. The disadvantage is that if the glove
pops off under water, your suit is flooded. This is not as unlikely
as it sounds, I popped it off once reaching for the swim step. The
ring caught, but I missed, and when the step pulled back the ring
snapped off. I was done anyway, but this would be no fun at 130 ft.
with deco to do. Putting the glove back on under water would at best
be very difficult. Maybe your buddy could help. The other problem
is that it makes it more difficult to get in and out of the harness,
because your wrists are so thick. All in all I like it a lot, and
would recommend it. I think the advantages outweigh the
disadvantages.

As far as dexterity goes, in 45 F water I find it much increased.
The cold really saps the strength out of your fingers, you're a
little clumsier with the gloves, but the fact that your hands are
warm more than makes up for it. Also, the gloves tend to squeeze
when you reach down, which makes them a lot less bulky than on the
surface.

Cheers,
