Rich I understand from Jim Bowden that Argonox was initially employed to try and give the dive team an advantage in terms of N2/He offgassing, but since nobody was prepared to run schedules as regards half times etc, it ws decided that the information they had was sufficient to use it and cut tables based on it being AIR for decompression penalty purposes. It is interesting to note that for Jim's proposed dive to finally answer the questions as regards the depthh and geography of Zacaton the proposal is to run thr dive as follows:- (1) Run air to the maximum tolerable narcosis depth (circa 90 metres) (2) Switch to an 'intermediate' Trimix. (3) Switch to bottom mix. (4) Reverse the above until the switch can be made to an Eanx mix of 1.6 ppo2 - including switching back to air @ 90 metres). (4) Possible use of Argonox at the shallow stops. (5) Following Jim's 'hit' it has been decided to employ an underwater habitat to allow him to get onto O2 at a higher ppo2 than 1.6 in relative safety and also to able to recieve introvenous fluids to prevent dehydration due to water temperature and extended (circa 10 - 12 hour) in water times. I promised to write to Jim and the team to see how things were going and will post any info. Regards Chris
