I don't need to shoot bags all that often, but I did three times last = weekend. All three times I filled the bag from my wing, and the released it in a = controlled fashion, because up untill I let the bag go, I was neutrally = bouyant. Since my left hand was still on the inflator, then I could straight away = get my neutrality back. Any way, it seemed to work for me. Thanks for the tip!! And now the story: I was doing a drift dive between the wrecks of the USAT Meigs and the = USAT Mona Loa. About a half mile apart. These were US transport ships sunk by the Japanese during WWII in Darwin = Harbour. The partially salvaged by the Japanese hard hat divers during the late = 50's & early 60's. These wrecks still contain A Bren Gun Carrier, trucks, motor cycles, = ammo, etc. No penetration, because of the salvage. The wrecks in Darwin Harbour are all between 20 to 30 m, hence good = nitrox depths. At the end of my dive I spotted a stainless steel prop blade from a = catalina flying boat. Had been sitting on the sand for 50+ years. Would never have found it again, hence shot a bag and salvaged it. The blade is about 5'6" long. Difficult to lift alone. Will clean up nicely. There is still alot wreckage in the harbour to find. This was a nice find I thought. Before I get flamed, NO We Do Not take stuff from the wrecks. This piece was in the middle of no where. Thought you may find this interesting. Jeff the Darwinian. ------=_NextPart_000_0061_01C00840.1E22CC20 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hi List,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>There has been some good dicussion on = shooting bags=20 lately.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I don't need to shoot bags all that = often, but I=20 did three times last weekend.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>All three times I filled the bag from = my wing, and=20 the released it in a controlled fashion, because up untill I let the bag = go, I=20 was neutrally bouyant.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Since my left hand was still on the = inflator,=20 then I could straight away get my neutrality back.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Any way, it seemed to work for = me.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Thanks for the tip!!</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2><STRONG>And now the = story:</STRONG></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I was doing a drift dive between the = wrecks of the=20 USAT Meigs and the USAT Mona Loa.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>About a half mile apart.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>These were US transport ships sunk by = the Japanese=20 during WWII in Darwin Harbour.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>The partially salvaged by the Japanese = hard hat=20 divers during the late 50's & early 60's.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>These wrecks still contain A Bren Gun = Carrier,=20 trucks, motor cycles, ammo, etc.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>No penetration, because of the=20 salvage.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>The wrecks in Darwin Harbour are all = between 20 to=20 30 m, hence good nitrox depths.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>At the end of my dive I spotted a = stainless steel=20 prop blade from a catalina flying boat.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Had been sitting on the sand for 50+=20 years.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Would never have found it again, hence = shot a bag=20 and salvaged it.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>The blade is about 5'6" = long.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Difficult to lift alone.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Will clean up nicely.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>There is still alot wreckage in the = harbour to=20 find.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>This was a nice find I = thought.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Before I get flamed, NO We Do Not take = stuff from=20 the wrecks.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>This piece was in the middle of no=20 where.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Thought you may find this = interesting.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Jeff the Darwinian.</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV></BODY></HTML> ------=_NextPart_000_0061_01C00840.1E22CC20-- -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
