The safety spool that Extreme Exposure sales holds 50m of 24 cave line. Its a good device:) -----Original Message----- From: stuart.morrison@sw*.co*.uk* [mailto:stuart.morrison@sw*.co*.uk*] Sent: Tuesday, August 15, 2000 6:24 AM To: dir@lo*.co*; techdiver@aquanaut.com Subject: RE: Lift bags > Used a spool the other week on a dive where the primary jamed > (not an EE :-( > I deploy just before my first gas switch, which was 21m (50%) > in this case. > I ended up completing the gas switch, then took out my spool > & backup bouy. I don't like ascending without a visual reference, especially in UK vis and tides (plankton doesn't make a good reference point) so I like to be able to put up a line from the bottom. With a spool it just doesn't hold enough line to make it comfortably to the surface on anything 25m+ so I carry two primaries. It causes no extra hassle than one plus a spool and is probably more use on a wreck. The only reel I ever jammed was a Custom Divers which I lost the first time I used it, the worst on the market. > Don't use Pisidons - so not a risk for me. Or me, but there are plenty who do and it is something to be aware of. Cheers, S Visit our web site at www.scott-wilson.com Privilege and Confidentiality Notice.
