What part caught you by surprise? That somebody could
get killed solo diving on a homemade ccr or that this
guy did something that stupid?

I am not sure what you are asking me. I do not
participate in the rebreather discussion list and my
expertise in rebreather diving is directed at cave
exploration in team dives with highly skilled players
on a simple mechanical system with full O/C bailout
staged and carried.

Still what surprises me is that we are even still
alive, but we feel our exploration is worth the risks
and that we have at least attempted to confine that
risk. You guys are creating risk and then putting
yourselves in the center of it for no reason at all. I
would never tell anyone to use a rebreather, and I
hold the record for their use in a cave ( with Jarrod
Jablonski).

Tell me what you are asking me? If you are asking me
to investigate this it is a waste of time - I know how
the best of these devices work and without a buddy,
you don't have a chance WHEN there is a problem. Give
it a rest - the guy committed assisted suicide -
assisted by the strokes on the rebreahter list and the
agencies and manufacturers who fail to have adequate
respect for these risks.

Sorry about your friend, he got fucked by the idiots.
