I certainly have my own thoughts about the likely cause, but we don't know, can't know until the results of the inquest/investigation are known. I also believe that we ought to respect the dead, but more importantly the families at least for a time. This guy loved to dive, however wrong one might believe he had been in his approach. Being in his 50s it's doubtful that ANYONE was ever going to teach him a new way. That old dogs and tricks thing. But we all love to dive, that much we can agree on. And I am very sorry for his friends and his family. When we are all off on another topic and another incident they will be left with their memories, regrets and the pain caused by careless actions and careless words. It's a matter of approach, but a little patience is in order. There will be time for the accusations and recriminations and analysis. Maybe the discussion can be rational enough that it can lead to some divers, new and old, adopting better methods if they are given the room to come to some better realizations.
