Subject: Re: backplates
I'm also 5'2 and was fitted by a tech workshop director over a year
ago with a stock AUL AL backplate I have more than 100 dives on it
now and it works great as is - i'm quite pleased with it. My back
got a tad sore the first time i used it, but it was also my first
time carrying doubles and i had a bit of a walk to the water with
them so go figure.

Remember, the backplate fits differently when the diver is horizontal
in the water than when she is vertical on land.

Another diver I know had 2" sawn from her SS backplate and has made
numerous other adjustments which seem to others to be silly and
unnecessary. She then relocated her crotch strap (another discussion
here....) and still has trouble with both double and single tanks
riding up and floating away from her back. And of course she wonders
why..........

I'd have the diver use the BP as is and expect the best.
