It is obviously also best to always dive the same rig
and config. I expect my backup light to be there, for
instance. It is implied in my thinking, and is there
when I need it.

Bullshit explanations are as bad as no explanation.
For instance, before Tom Mouth got embarrassed into
breathing the long hose, he used to stuff it . He told
me that the reason he did it was because there was so
much AIDS going around.

Got it. Thanks George. I believe I understand where
I misinterpreted the
comments, out of context.

Since I plan on a HID light, I'll stick with my plan
to rig a 7' hose,
regardless whether in OW or in an overhead
environment, virtual or real. My
plan is to dive the same minimalist rig all the time,
including primary and
backup lights, adding only what is required for the
specific dive intended.
Actually, I guess the backup lights are required in
FL, I'll be diving off
boats. ;-)

BING! Oh shit, the damn light just came on! :-)
Duhhh...now I feel pretty
stupid. This is what has been happening to me. Too
many folks telling me
what the rig should be, without validation.

The CONCEPTS and their CORRESPONDING REASONS are the
foundation of DIR,
starting with the building blocks of backplate and
harness, coupled with the
backup reg around the neck and the breathing of the
primary reg which is
donated in an OOA event. Now I think I got it, and
can proceed with proper
outfitting and training.

Thanks,

Quinn
