Would you argue politics with a slobbering wino on the street corner? No? Why not? Because he doesn't get it. He'll never get it. He can't get it. He's the poster boy for Twain's statement: "It's hard to make things foolproof because fools are so damned ingenious." That's why he couldn't get DIR to work. There are plenty of divers out there who adopt aspects and not the whole system of DIR who aren't fools. But every diver goes through some evolution of thought as they are exposed to things that do work. So: "Let us be thankful for the fools; but for them the rest of us could not succeed." And Mark Twain must surely have had this guy in mind when he wrote: "The ignorant are afraid to betray surprise or admiration...they think it ill manners." He knows everything, is surprised by nothing and admires only the sound of his own words. Let him shuffle off - if he can muster the sense to.
