Long hose: Wrap it around your neck and you won't trip over it. Backup lights: Re-stowing is not a major issue since they only come into play if your primary dies. Still, it's no big deal to get them back if you get used to them and there's always plenty of time to ask for help to re-stow a light. Halcyon single tank backplate: Never tried one since I never dive a single tank. If it's indeed wobbly it defies the purpose of a steel backplate. Anyway, I can vouch that a backplate with doubles bolted to it is absolutely rock solid. Hip mounted pressure gauge: I use some surgical tubing between the clip and the gauge. This way I can pull it out without unclipping it. I really try not to be a ranting bullshit artists but the rig still works for me. It's not totally DIR in all minor respects but it's safely within Hogarthian and beats everything else I've tried. I do use a weight belt rather than a P weight and I don't own black Scubapro fins but the general idea of a DIR rig has definitely worked for me. Sure, the internet is full of wannabes, even though Jim Cobb is not exactly among those. Please try the rig once more and ignore the noise. After all, we're talking configuration here rather than netiquette. regards, Hans -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
