OK, this seems to be a concern that many divers bring too much stuff to do a quite ordinary dive. I'm sure there's a lot of tech freaks bringing all their toys. My basic rig is a double 80 and I use this rig with a Hogarthian set-up for all dives. And no, I don't bring stages to dive nitrox to 80'. As to excessive gear clanging around I think you are referring to configurations not exactly endorsed by most people on this list. I have reason to assume that your wreck diving in the lakes will be in the 100 - 200' range. If so a "generic mix" might be a normoxic trimix and a couple of stages with EAN 50.
