I imagine that if enough argon can be absorbed through the skin to cause bends, then perhaps enough argon can be absorbed through the skin to cause narcosis. I read that the body can absorb a fatal dose of HCN (hydrogen cyanide) through the skin if he goes into a high concentration of it wearing only a breathing set instead of an all-over protective `spacesuit'.
