The man is not widely despised in diving circles. He is feared and loathed by those with most to lose from the acceptance of his message and the widespread application of DIR. Tell me, helium diver, what do you find nastier: someone forthrightly pointing out dangerous diving and dive training practices, or somebody teaching them? How long did George et all speak out about deep air? And then how many students and instructors had to die before the agencies reluctantly modified their standards? How long did he speak out about overweighting and unsafe bouyancy devices. And how many tech/mix students have been killed by them? And still the stroke agencies permit them.
