Jeff, the stories are on the wkpp.org site. The recent dive at 16,905 was actually more interesting then the 18 or the 19, since it is going tunnel and we actually videoed the dive. You can guess that we have come a long way in our sophistication with this since JJ and I now are able to do more distance two man and video it at the same time with HID and Digital. We also have a High Definition video of A Tunnel, which involved taking a $600,000 camera to 300 feet - that was a real milestone in our gear confidence. The OMS manifold is a piece of shit in my opinion. I do not allow it in the WKPP. Where do we start? The thing is fixed center, as opposed to the spinning capability of the Sea Elite ( aka Scuba Pro, Dive Rite, Halcyon, etc ) - if you hit something the others will spin the center, and all that happens is either both sides tighten or loosen, rather than one loosening and one tightening ( the others are reverse threaded on one side ), if it could move at all ( rather than just breaking the knob off or worse ). The OMS fits only one way - no adjustment. It has face seals - a major NO NO. If you drop the tanks or hit something it is skewed against the "seal" - not the case with the others - they will tolerate a huge shift. The OMS is the old style of fittings like the 30 year old manifolds. I looked at one the other day and got disgusted after I took it apart. It is so suboptimal, that it is eliminated from an serious consideration before you would even get any further into it. Why by a suboptimal piece of shit made by people who in my opinion are clueless about dive gear, when you can get optimal manifolds from so many other sources, like Dive Rite, or Halcyon, or Sea Elite or Scuba Pro? You would really have to be an uniformed moron to buy one of these in my opinion. Jeff, I have been over this so many times . -----Original Message----- From: Jeffrey Swann <swanncruz@ta*.ne*.au*> To: trey@ne*.co* <trey@ne*.co*> Date: Friday, June 30, 2000 9:48 AM Subject: Re: DIR Rig >Any chance of an answer, >Jeff >Dear George, >I missed the second half of 18,000 +, if you still have it on your server. >Also would you mind giving me a quick wrap up on the problems of OMS >manifolds. >I thought it was just the knobs. >Always appreciate your thoughts. >Nice photos on the wkpp site by the way. >regards, >Jeff of Darwin. > > -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
