I started this dive report when we got back and then got busy with work and dive stuff. So this is to finish it and move on. We had an interesting trip. As in any good trip, there are always many good stories to tell. This is no exception. We departed on Brad's birthday with Becky Spalding(our Great Mate) providing a surprise birthday cake after the delivery of the Special Scuba Cookies by the Scuba Mom (Mrs. Beskin). (That's another story.) Rick Atkinson, Rodney King, Gary Sanderson, and Eric Deister were a bit last depart PA so the arrived about 11:30pm for departure around 12:30am. They let Capt JT drive again (Captain ZigZag) for awhile. We arrive on station and hooked the U140. Charlie (The Man from DAN) had set us up with monitoring computers for us to bend. Jeff Hewlett and Mike Fantone were first team in; then Bill Ripley, Chris Ripley and I followed second; Capt JT & The Cobb (scooter killer) third; and last was Rick Atkinson, Rodney King, & Gary Sanderson. My group past Jeff Hewlett Mike Fantone with Jeff did his 5 minute prep at the hang bar. After the descent I tied us in at the netting, after our time was up, we returned to the surface to aid Capt Charles with deck support as needed with all the divers in the water. Brad Beskin and Eric Deister provide mid to deep support; Becky Spalding and Charlie Coffey (The Man from DAN) at shallow safety. Charlie was teh only wet diver and cold by the end of the dive. We had 46 degrees on the bottom at 267 fsw and 50 degrees on the hang. It was dark and cold. Most cut the dive short. JT rode his scooter into the sand (trouble cutting it off), Jim just killed his altogether! There is this story about a run away scooter at 270 fsw though. The second have went well and with super support from the boat staff and safety divers. Brad Beskin, Eric, Charlie (The DAN Guy), and Becky did a super job on all mid range and shallow safety The most challenging dive was the Ostfrisland with Capt JT, Rick Atkinson, and Jeff Hewlett as the bottom dwellers with plans to 380 fsw for 12 minutes. The descent safety diver support from Bill Ripley and David Widen to 300+ fsw for 10 minutes BT. Gary Sanderson provided the ascent safety at 200 fsw and up. The mid-range and shallow support. There has been and will continue to be good dialog on the experience from Capt JT and skin bends and Cobb the Dacor Scooter Killers -- Trey it is time for a Gain for Jim! Thanks to Captain JT for setting up the charterand leading; the joint cooperation of Rick's group of Rodney, Gary, and Eric plus VB Tech of JT, David, Jim, Brad, Jeff, Bill, Chris, Becky, and Mike. Thanks to Captain Charles Salle and staff of Co-Capt/Mate Mike Fantone, 1st Mate Beck Spalding, support Mate Chris Ripley. Our visiting guest from DAN, Charlie Coffey. I think Becky and Chris have a new definition for hauling the anchor now. David -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
