Paul,
Although it may sound like a contridiction, both Skip and George are =
correct. Wearing a drysuit you have the capability of varying your =
bouyancy should the wings fail. There is no need to add another wing (or =
bladder) since you have two independant systems that can handle bouyancy. =
George (Trey) is also correct- the drysuit has an inherent positive =
bouyancy even when completely "burped". This latent bouyancy offsets (to =
some extent) the negative bouyancy of the Steel 104's and battery pack. I =
keep just enough gas in my drysuit to keep the squeeze away and use the =
wings as primary bouyancy control. Should the wings fail the suit can =
easily compensate. In that sense they are "redundant" however, (semantics =
aside) they are two systems that work together but are not dependant on =
each other.=20
C.

More newbie questions...sorry, but I don't want to repeat the mistake=20
of buying gear that ultimately doesn't work.

Regarding redundant buoyancy, is your drysuit considered redundant=20
buoyancy, is it assumed your wings won't fail...or what?

I found this in the archives:

(I looked at a reply from Trey, and he didn't disagree with it...)

and this:

Yes, it is called balancing your rig in the first place. The drysuit is
not "redundent" buoyancy, it is built in buoyancy that needs to be
offset with steel tanks or weight etc.

So, Trey, anyone, care to comment? I'd like to know if DIR includes=20
redundant buoyancy, if it's the drysuit, and if not, why not and=20
should I use dual wings?

Thanks.
