Hi Don,

I can't speak to the "other issues"", but this one is a non-problem.  Simply 
take a second computer.  And remember, there may be no significant difference 
between the failure rate of dive computers and the failure rate of the 
electronic depth gauges / bottom timers commonly used in technical diving.
