Vinegar should work fine. We used it as a home disinfectant for cleaning trach tubes for my son on a vent. I just picked up a p-vale when I was in High Springs at the EE store and plan to use vinegar and a syringe ( a turkey baster would work fine ) to purge it after each dive. simpler than taking it apart. Shoot it down the balance valve as well.
