I believe that the old SOS bend-o-matic was 2 chambers connected by some sort
of filter.  Ambient preasure on one chamber forced the gas throught the filter
into the other chamber.  The preasure in this second chamber was then taken
as a measure of nitrogen absorption in your tissues.  There was no attempt
here to model bubble formation etc.  I would guess that the SOS meter was
equivalent to a single compartment haldanean model.
