Don't know about the 2 HP ports (oh, yeah it's for the paranoids who use 2 gauges or the lunatics who make hose manifolds). But the gauge thing is you have a certain amount of error at the low/high ends of gauges. You calibrate for the middle range, so in theory the wider the spread between low/high the more accurate you can make the gauge over a given range. But of course in practice this is self-defeating because the scale gets reduced proportional to the diameter of the gauge (analog gauge that is). So 4000-5000 is the compromise.
