Thomas,

Your are correct.  The NS Research filter is not much more money than the
L-Factor in initial
outlay.  But....

Better quality air?  How good do you want it?  Both filters give you hyper-pure
air both O2
blending.

The NS research has 3 filters to replace each of which is nearly the cost of
the single L-Factor
filter.  Since the filters need to be replaced once a year anyway, well you do
the math....

I'd rather replace 1 filter than three.  The L-Factor filter is similar to the
older  L-Factor
filters that were put out by Underwater Applications, but in this case they
have stacked two
elements one on top of the other.

The way I look at it, do you want to replace one filter or three?  Keep in mind
I'm talking
personal use here.  If your running a business with these, then you might
actually make use of the
additional capacity of the NS research model.
