Appearing to be the same could kill you if the threads are incorrect and the plug blows out. You need to verify the thread from a manufacturers schematic on both the valve and the plug. I have seen two different threads work together in as much as they will "fit" but they would never withstand a the stress of a full load. Hope this helps.
