Up-Front Disclaimer: I in *no way*, subtle or overt, intend any flaming or denigration of those who engage in diving at a level so much more chall- enging than mine as to be almost equivalent to a space program.... But, given the possibility of a CNS O2 hit, with its high probability of disaster and (seeming) capriciousness of ocurrence, and the numbing effect of nitrogen narcosis, what is the *motivation* behind doing extreme air diving, as opposed to heliox or tri-mix, which simply seem to be more suitable technologies? Again, I don't have any problem with wanting to get down there (I have these fantasies about dong deep penetration dives on the Titanic...), but I'm curious as to the decision to use air at great depths. And, yeah, I'm the guy who asked about TDI, so if ya wanna flame me for a neophyte, go right ahead, as long as there's an answer in the smoke :-). Thanks, and dive safely...
