I ran across something today that might be of interest to people here.
A company in Germany has recently released an oxygen treatment unit that
has a rebreather design. The system supplies 100% O2 to the user but the
exhalation goes to a counter-lung and is scrubbed and rebreathed. They
claim 8 hours of O2 from a 2 liter bottle. The scrubber lasts about 4
hours and is user replaceable. I haven't seen the unit but a friend of
mine just took a course with it and said it is lightweight and easy to
use. The cost is about 1400 DEM (about 900 USD). More information on the
