What the hell, I haven't been flamed in quite a while...

The obvious solution being: stop the destruction by coastal development.
The creation of artificial reefs is only a band-aid solution that simply
prolongs the problem. It buys us more time but only by shifting the cost
(this time to metal availability which currently isn't a problem). And
when this cost becomes a problem we'll look for another band-aid. Some
day there will be no band-aids left. The proper solution is to change
what is causing the problem in the first place. Treat the disease and
not the symptoms.

Again, treat the disease. The problem is that these resources are over-
fished. We take, take, take until there isn't anything left. How many
lakes do you know of that used to be loaded with fish and are now empty?
Why not look for other sources of food and adapt our culture to work
with the environment? And this is only one example of how our "food-
culture" is destroying our resources. We aren't destroying rain-forests
for the wood.

People simply have to learn that we can't have everything we want. One
way or another it's going to disappear. So give me a box of those battle-
ship razor-blades. Hell, I'll pay extra for them. They might even last
longer. ;-)
