Amen... Fire Station air? ICK! (and kinda scary too...)

When I managed SanDiego Diver's Supply (long before they went belly-up and
became a "discount outlet") our insurance would not allow filling w/ Navy or
other Public Service cards... (This included the lifeguards who, for the
most part, were better divers than most instructors I knew.) The Navy in
SanDiego was very good about making sure all of their guys Also had PADI
cards so they could dive off-base. I think one of their instructors was also
an active PADI guy.

I worked a deal with the lifeguards so they could fill empty spaces in my
classes for free... boy did that ever pay off! Every single one of those
guys (close to 100 in my year there) bought gear and kept coming back for
more.... created some very loyal customers. (Hmm, this is beginning to touch
on the economics thread...that didn't work well with other types of folk,
but the lifeguards were great.)

My 2 cents worth...
