I currently have a Nemesis PRO and a ScubaPro DC-11. Both have worked very
well for me over the years. I like the Nemesis's hoseless approach and
air integration. Now that they have some competition and also have come out
with a new model I'd like to get some feedback on these new computers and their
new algorithm?

The following is a write up I posted on UK-Scuba upon my return from TEK - Its
on the AIR- X. Now I am no expert on the Air X and the following represents
what I remember from the guy on the stand (one of the designers) and what I
have gleamed from the data sheet (having said that I am intending to get a
Nitrox X as soon as I can)

Onward ..............

Don't know how much you know so lets start at basics (apologies included) :-

Air Integrated ZH- L8ADT algorithm - new version of the old Buhlman which takes
into account water temp and work load. Also includes calculations for
microbubble formation and its effects (new algorithm referred to by Uwated as
ScubaTrak) Two CPU's one acts as an Aladin and the other as a contents gauge -
if you use the air X with the High Pressure radio transmitter you get all the
air integrated stuff (ctlinder contents, air calculated time remaining,
breathing rate modification of the algorithm) if not it defaults to basic
Aladin Pro type stuff

Two displays wrapped around wrist - number one looks just like a PRO - number
two is all the air calcs and air remaining stuff. Auto turn on in water

Battery is some Israeli military unit - can only be replaces by factory BUT
consumption is approx 75 % of old Aladin ie take the old Aladin life and add on
1/3 : battery life is indicated (on one of the surface displays as % of max)

variable ascent (US figures (from brochure) are 180 ft per min at depth to 20ft
per min in shallow) - if diver violates the variable ascent rate ScubaTrak will
modify the deco schedule according to microbubble calcs in the algoritm.

Also tracks water temp - based on a temp : time in water and computer estimates
diver skin temp and modifies deco schedule as cold tissues absorb more
Nitrogen.

Workload is from breathing rate. Air X monitors breathing rate and shortens no
deco if breathing rate goes up - the guy on the stand explained this as - after
three mins into dive the Air X has a breathing rate if you go over this it
warns via audio beep and flashing symbol - if you stay above this it starts to
modify the no deco time (this apparently helps with the old air bag problem ie
squirt of gas from bottem mix seen by integrated comp as panic breathing screws
up air remaaining calcs etc) - also shows remaining bottem time based upon air
consumption (updated every 4 seconds) - with 3 mins to go alarm sounds - when
hits zero another alarm sounds (as your now hit the point the Air X has
calculated that you have enought air to ascend - complete deco and surface with
the preprogrammed gas reserve)

Logs 19 dives on the computer (max depth, time - basic Aladin pro type stuff) -
but logs 37 (or 200 mins) of detailed dive profile info to a PC. this info is
dive profile in 20 second intervals (breathing rate ; air remaining ; temp ;
predicted body temp ; ascent rate ; breathing rate ; remaining bottem time)

This was an intersting bit of conversation - 200 mins of info eqautes to approx
three tech dives said I - new download unit due outsaid he - no dates - which
will down load multiple (figure of 30 mentioned) dives for multiple divers
(figure of 4 mentioned) for storage to be retrieved later onto PC - great for a
week in Scapa !!

PC software - optional - but full logging with graphical representaion of the
dive progile + everything the Air X logs ie date, time, watr temp, average air
consumption, deco requirements - just add buddy and place details !!! - can be
printed out (in colour if you have the printer) and inserted in a log bok they
have produced. PC used to prog defaults - ie imp v metric : gas reserve
warning (in PSI - 400 to 1200): audible warning turn off (!)

Dive simulation - full simulation not just the depth time prediction from the
pro but full planning (inc deco) capabilities

I also looked at the Nitrox X : Its very similar in all details apart from
allowing user setting on O2% between 21% and 50%. In addition it then tracks
OTU's and %CNS - both being recorded for download to the PC

Thats about all I can remember - hope its of interest
