Philip,

Adjusting a Cyklon to maximize performance is fairly simple (although
not factory endorsed).

Inside the second stage is a white plastic sleeve with a square'ish
"port/window" in the side. This window typically points about 45 degrees
away from the mouthpiece opening. This is the factory setting.

As you move this window more into the mouthpiece, you increase the venturi
effect generated by the gas flow, and this will increase the ability of the
gas flow to keep the inhale diaphragm depressed. Thus, reducing the need
to generate negative pressures to keep the fresh gas flowing.

Pointing this window directly into the mouthpiece will produce the most
performance increase, but will result in a regulator that will freeflow
vigorously if dropped into the water while standing in waist deep water,
and also will produce a sustained freeflow if the purge is activated with
the regulator out of the mouth.

Bottom line, adjust this to give more venturi, and stop when it gets to
the point where the freeflow tendenacy is tolerable. This point will very
from regulator to regulator, and will also very depends on the intermediate
pressure setting.

Poseidon used to recommend setting the IP to 170-180 psi in the Cyklon, but
it appears that in the last few years they have been backing this down to
around 150psi. Adjusting the IP back to 170psi will also improve the gas
delivery by the Cyklon.

Please be aware that the first stages for the Odin and the Cyklon, although
they look alike, are not. There is a first stage "boost" to the "R" port
and this boost is more pronounced in the Odin first stage as compared to
the Cyklon first stage. Poseidon does not recommend using the Cyklon
on the Odin first stage as this "boost" can make freeflow situations
worse with the Cyklon (to the point that the free flow can only be terminated
by turning off the pressure to the first stage.)

John
