Whatever makes you happy seems to be the right answer here. We have people liking yoke for it's ease of installation and ease of switching underwater. On the other side you have the folks who like DIN because of it's lower profile and better o-ring seal. Important part is to have all stages the same, not back gas and stages. Back gas I would always advise to go for DIN. I've heard from a GUE instructor that DIN fittings are a no-no for stages, due to it's fragility to impact. Something that a shock would render the stage reg useless. Is there any truth in it? If affirmative, when diving with one stage only, should I go for yoke or stick to DIN (as my back gas regs are all DIN)? One of the most important advantages of the DIN fitting is that the o-ring is on the first stage, not the bottle. Blown o-rings should really not happen this way. All in all, the DIN way seems to me more secure. The A-clamp is probably good enough for rec-diving, but I generally prefer the (subjective) feeling of that little extra security the DIN connections provide. Then again, I'm German and thus just used to it. Did use A-clamps on holiday though and had no problems either. Andy -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
