I use DIN for everything , from argon to backgas. The old timers in WKPP used to use yoke because they did not have enough regs and would switch underwater, adn DIN was not yet available anyway. I was the first one to even have a DIN manifold or DIN stages. We no longer encourage underwater reg switching even on deco gas an intentional plan for the last several years. The funny thing about yoke is that it is easy to change underwater - but then you get a lot of chances to do so. DIN does not provide that entertainment. However, the fact is that theoreticly , they should both be the same vis a vis the o-ring. On the fragility issue, it is the knob that is your risk, not the DIN. Break the knob and you can't turn it on. If you are using a reg that has a thin DIN tube, and you were to hit it hard enough against something, it would indeed break, but that is more likely to occur on land than in the water. In real life, the rocking of the yoke reg under pressure againt the non-captured o-ring is what shaves the ring and breaks it, and the thing that wears the ring out so fast is that the reg constantly twists against it under pressure, whereas the DIN ring does not get that kind of play due to the nature of DIN. The "capturing" of the o-ring is insignificant otherwise. If I were buying , I would buy DIN.
