Trey, In all honesty, I really don't blame Oceanic for not making either of them... Business is business, and if there's no market, there's no product. I personally probably wouldn't have bought a pair even if they were available because it's so damn easy to make a serviceable pair out of spring, a couple feet of cave line and a chunk of rubber hose. In fact, that's exactly what I did about a year ago when I finally got sick of duct taping the floppy end of the rubber strap. ~Sluys At 01:07 AM 03/27/2000, Trey wrote: >Once, again, the spring is all you need - that is all there was on the >Farallon fin - the rubber parts are Oceanic's doing. > >And, you can not blame Oceanic for not making that or the backup lights >that Barry Miler now makes - the problem , as can be seen from this list >and even more so from the "cavers" list, is that the nickelrocket >strokes in "tec" diving will spend thousands on a worthless dive >computer, bondage wings, and a tranformer pack, and NOTHING on good >gear, so nobody tries to make good gear but those who have the exact >market. > >The fact is that I was able to buy the entire inventory of X-large >spring straps form Oceanic several yars ago and gave them all to my >friends, outfitted my three pairs of Jets, and saved a few as spares. > >Go buy the springs at the hardware store, that is all you need. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
