A good percentage of my students and my diving friends are from over the water. They even have these delightful accents. And I particularly like the Scottish dry sense of humor e.g. "Lived here all your life? Ummm, not yet." I use only DIN valves on my doubles. I believe they are more rugged. I often use K valves on stage tanks because that is all that is usually available. We call them "K" valves rather than "A" clamps (which when I think about it makes a whole lot more sense) because historically they were item "K" in the old US Diver's catalog. However, all of my good regulators are DIN, so I use an adapter screwed onto the DIN connection on the regulator to put them on a K valve. The adapters are like the ones that come with the Beuchat and (no flames please) Poseidon DIN regulators. This way I can switch regulators during a dive or deco should I have a problem. On the other hand when I travel in the US or Caribbean to do some recreational diving, there usually isn't a DIN tank in sight. So I'm forced to use a K valve single.
