Hi Michael I do think you should reconsider your statement. I have read the story a couple of times and based on the 3 bystanders it says that he had GONE BACK in to the water, meaning he chose to start a new dive SOLO. The buddy did not fail him or leave him. The dead diver chose to go back in the water over a piece of gear (light). This is the same way that Rob Wolvo killed himself by going back to look for a lost mask with 750 psi in his tank, then ran OOA and drowned. NO PIECE OF GEAR IS WORTH RISKING YOUR LIFE OVER, nor is fish, lobsters, and artifacts! As in most deaths, if you look at the facts it is usely the dead divers own fault. Notice I said MOST!
