Use a low performance backup - the backup is diaphram-down causing an automatic pressure drop across it which is agravated by moving , current or scootering. The air-balanced high performance regs, like the 250, are good for 500 psi loss per dive as a backup. You don't need easy breathing "at depth" unless you are on air, and that is only a perception, not real. The concept of a h/p backup is taught by the same people who teach all the other things that make all of my "Baker's Dozen" series of no no's in diving.
