Mike/Jeff

Sydney at the moment is about 20 C at the surface but about 15 C at depth. I
did a course dive on Saturday with 5 mm wetsuit and no hood and felt the
cold. On Sunday I did a deepie to 45 metres with wetsuit and hood and it was
OK. Most of the deep wreck divers here are now divng in a dry suit all year
round. I am currently waiting for one to arrive.

I can also advise that the Far Northern Section of the Great Barrier Reef
would be about 28 C now and a 3 mm suit would be nice for the long bottom
times on the shallow reefs. A lot like Jeff's country but not quite as warm
in the water.

Regards
Steve Bliim

Dear Mike,
Depends where.
In degrees C.
In Darwin about 30 to 31 C.
Skin suit (lycra) or 3mm.
I wear 3mm for stinger protection.
Sydney, 20 C ?
Full wet suit.
Victoria and South Australia and WA.
Cold, probable around 18 C.
Means Full 7mm suit with hood.
On the barrier reef, you would need a wet suit.
I think people in NSW, Vic , SA, etc are wearing dry suits late fall to
early spring.
= March to October.
If more specific on latitude, I can help better.
Jeff.
Dear James, can you comment?
