In that particular case the water temperature was -0.6 degrees C, and the regulator had been used on a previous dive, and had water in the 2nd stage. I don't remember anybody ever complaining about excessive ice formation in the 2nd stage, or getting ice chunks in their mouths. ************ I have had similar experiences of these ice chunks from a jetstream(odin) mainly in deep > 40m and cold < 4 centigrade, however the problem was established to be 1 an incorrect breathing manner by me (fast and staged), 2 an ill serviced reg These problems have been rectified and I have had no problems since. Have have no connection with poseidon, but I will say this I have never seen one freeze, and I have seen a lot of valves freeze cause I dive a rather infamous N.Wales quarry a lot. Mine never froze even when giving ice, however if you have any doubts, just put the environmental cap on the 1st stage filled with vodka or other appropiate substance. Good advice maybe I should take it....
