Kevin, you, being out of the loop, are unaware of the constant exchange of information and ideas which goes on outside the context of the lists. The WKPP guys answer any and all honestly asked questions. Your statement about a 'backlash' against DIR is unfounded and marks you as being every bit as opinionated as those who you criticise. But at least their opinions are based in fact. A couple of other points. 1. Ask a straight question and you get a straight answer. 2. Impart less than optimal information and you get jumped. 3. Try to 'manage' the societal aspects of the list and you get told to go fuck yourself. >As for the guy that published the names of deceased fellow divers, well, >that was a cheap shot. See point 3. The list of dead that John published is a timely and sombre reminder that we're not here for the Teddy Bear's picnic. The stuff we do has certain risks attached which, if you don't work assiduously to reduce them, will bite you on the arse. Actions like publishing the list are a useful thing. Keeping it quiet or hiding the reasons behind the deaths as the dive establishment has done on numeris occasions does a grave disservice to all of us. >How low can you get. This low: You can dive like a stroke, teach for a stroke agency, and train a lot of students to be strokes. Then when you kill a few, you hide the reasons so no-one can learn or avoid the traps. That's how low. >Here's a question for you. How >many of those divers would be alive today if they hadn't have been put off >of DIR by the mentality of the above pondlife. Idiocy spoken with the conviction that only comes from profound ignorance. rgrds billyw -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
