There is a good little unit available from Sea Marshall, the PLB model which
is water resistant but an additional waterproff "TuffBox" is available for
diving. The complete unit is about 5x4x3 inches and is waterproof to
something like 100 metres with the later version of the TuffBox. It
transmits on the international ditress frequency and is picked up by
commerical shipping, aircraft and air sea rescue as well as satellites. The
range is limited but a damn sight better than drifting for days at sea.

Please note. It is vital to clean the o ring in the tuffbox after every dive
or it will leak which will kill the unit.

The battery is a standard PP3 and is user changable, once per season is
okay. They are common amongst UK wreck divers due to tidal drift problems on
deco.
