Subject: Cave fatality in Italy
The victim was a very experienced deep air coral cutter, padi instructor,
running his own "100m. dive club" in Lubjana, Slovenia. He
caused four or five deaths in the past few years between his OWD students,
which attempted to satisfy the "requisites" required to be
admitted in this very exclusive club. A pair of these were a 18 years old girl
and her 17 years old boyfriend, OWD certified the month
before, both drowned in a 100+ meters air dive two years ago.
He was about 40. I don't know if he was a iantd istructor or what else. I
don't know much of the incident because i was out of town for
holidays.

Here is what i know from a friend of mine, who recovered the body:
It was a cave dive in the Antro di Bagnoli, in 50 meters (165 ft) depth, with
very bad viz., about 0,5-2 meters, and about 10°C. This cave
is virtually unexplored cause there are a lot of tight restrictions, the
beginning part being only 70cm wide. He wanted to add line to a
200 meters penetration he setted during a previous dive, the week before.
He was, "obviously", breathing air, and was a solo dive.
He wore a trilaminate dry suit, a "technical BC" and a manifolded steel doubles
at 300 bar,
He had one depth gauge only, but mounted on the primary first stage.
Apparently, he didn't open the manifold knob before the dive.
He was found drowned, with one tank completely empty, and the other with 280
bar, about 30 meters before a deco bottle on the way back to
the exit of the cave.
That's all.
