Tim,

Four months isnt a long time. I have been here, under one address or another for
5 years and I am a newbie.

In that time I have seen an outburst like the one we are experiencing now at
least once per season. It is the annual "polite society party" where the easily
offended launch yet another crusade to make techdiver safe for democracy and the
easily offended. It is noisy and well attended by the luminaries of the sport,
but it solves nothing. The easily offended go away after a while< they are,
after all, easily offended>, and the brightest star is nothing but hot gas.

At the same time another party is never held. It is the reunion of the divers
who didnt make it. They are dead. That is the list below. They can only serve as
powers of example, of what not to do. They will never get to call someone a
stroke. They are gone and yet they will be here always. They are our most sacred
touchstone, for to keep with the legacy of these divers we must never forget
them, or the mistakes which felled them, mistakes which could befall any of us.
And we must not allow those who come after us to make those mistakes or to lose
sight of the truth. And that is this:

        "DEATH IS NOT POLITE."

                                                  -George M. Irvine III

If you cant take dirty words and mean people, you probably dont have the
mindset to put in to practice all the other things that will make you
successful, where sucess is defined as staying alive.
