--=====================_232370245==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Michael, This is my last response to you about this nonsense. I told you in a private post that you can not do these dives and be considered conservative. NOAA is conservative and the "clock" is conservative. We are safer doing these dives than you are swimming in your pool. This is not lightly undertaken. Sheck Exley said many years ago that George has taken the risk out of cave diving. This is a paraphrase because you do not merit my effort to find the exact quote. We did not start this yesterday, we have been at it since 1987, that is 13 years, and an untold amount of man hours. During all of this the WKPP has amassed an amazing safety record, all the while doing dives that no one else in the world does. I will wager that you did not read all of my post, so I will be brief: If you do a dive on 32% at an average of 100' for 120 min and deco on oxygen you EXCEED THE CNS CLOCK. Does ever one that dives at Little River tox, no Michael they do not. Do you know why they don't seize, because the clock is nothing more than a means to express an old, outdated, and arbitrary concept as it relates to percentages. The PO2 portion is still valid. That is why we do not exceed PO2s of 1.6. Why don't you busy yourself with some research into the "clock" and discover how they came up with the 100% limit. While the dangers of oxygen toxicity are very real they are also very manageable, and if I weren't so damn busy explaining elementary concepts to people, like you, who do not have a clue, I might be able to finished disseminating some of the information we have acquired, so that others may cave dive safely. That is what the WKPP has done and is doing for cave diving. What may I ask have your contributions been? The world is waiting to learn from you Dr. Black, please don't let us down and freely share you infinite wisdom about cave and technical (I hate that word) diving. The analogy you have provided the world is as pathetic as the rest of your inane email diatribes. It would behove you to learn what you are talking about before you open your mouth in the future. You may be a "god" on rec.scuba, but this is not a coral reef and we do things a little differently. Scott Hunsucker At 07:38 AM 02/15/2000 -0800, Michael J.
