The leading arguments against DIR's gear config include,

- what if the long hose chokes me?
Then Natural Selection still works

- it's just one extra <whatever> -- no big deal
I have no life that is worth anything to speak of

- you can't tell me what to do
I'm too fucking stupid to learn anything new

- my gear hasn't killed me yet
But give me one more dive

- that's not what my instructor taught me
And he is a TDI instructor so he knows everything

- those darn light cords keep wrapping themselves around 
  the ladder and hanging me like an overstuffed pinata
And this wouldn't be so bad if everyone wasn't hitting me with those sticks
